MARINE PROPULSION RVI SHAFT 15
ARENS RVI SHAFT 15 // Most compact inboard engines on the market
The ARENS RVI SAIL 15 is suitable for small runabouts and sailing boats. The engine, foundation and Saildrive are designed as a complete system which, at 45 kg, is only half the weight of comparable systems and requires 40% less installation space. A real innovation is the plug-and-play principle, which allows the engine to be removed quickly and easily when maintenance is required.
The heart of the system is a highly compact engine with designation “ARENS RVI 378-2Z”. It delivers 11.04 kW (15 PS) at 4,300 rpm and is the world’s first inboard engine based on a two-stroke boxer engine with common rail direct injection. The closed fuel system allows operation in unventilated engine compartments. Due to its boxer construction, the ARENS RVI engine runs very smoothly and is low in vibration. Power is controlled via a sensor on the throttle lever and no longer requires a throttle mechanism. With a maximum charge current of 58 A, the built-in generator delivers four times the charge current of outboard motors with the same power output. The ARENS RVI SAIL 15 can compete with inboard diesel engines with its fuel consumption of only two litres per hour at cruising speed.

ARENS MOTORS develops small marine propulsion systems. For our ARENS RVI Sail 15 we offer folding propeller like shown in the animation.
For the installation of the system, a supplied foundation is inserted into the hull of the boat, which is provided with a mounting frame and serves to fasten the engine and Saildrive. The RVI power head and its leads can be detached from the boat with just a few hand movements using quick-release couplings. At a weight of 35 kg, lifting out does not require any lifting equipment. What’s more, with its box dimensions of only 600 x 430 x 300 mm, the motor is extremely compact and easy to transport. This makes uncomplicated shipping in a crate possible, which eliminates the need to transfer the entire boat to a service workshop for maintenance. The expenditure for stationary wintering or maintenance is considerably lower compared to conventionally installed diesel engines.
The ARENS RVI Sail 15 is an alternative to outboards, as they are usually used on smaller sailing boats. With this system, operational comfort and manoeuvrability can be significantly improved. Of course, its use is also possible in other boat types where weight and installation space are limiting factors. Last but not least, the ARENS RVI APP offers the possibility to inform yourself about the operating status of the engine via smartphone.
